We’re fortunate to have beautiful historic cemeteries to contemplate the lives of generations before us, like Shockoe Hill Cemetery (photo), Hollywood Cemetery, East End and Evergreen Cemeteries, St. John’s Burial Ground, Hebrew Cemetery, Woodland Cemetery, Holy Cross Cemetery, Shockoe Hill African Burial Ground, Oakwood Cemetery, and Richmond National Cemetery. This spring we were fortunate to work with volunteers from @ohnarva and @rvaparksandrec to plant several trees and native pollinator beds in Pleasant’s Park in Oregon Hill. New plants include dogwoods, river birch, serviceberry, magnolias, hydrangeas, sweetspire, New Jersey tea, and peonies, along with bee balm, yarrow, milkweed, baptisia, butterfly weed, coreopsis, oxeye sunflower, and others. If you’d like to volunteer in the park, or have a neighborhood organization that would like to collaborate on a planting, send us a message!
