In September 2023 approximately 80 volunteers from McKesson Corporation’s Richmond office partnered with Verdant Richmond to install landscaping in Triangle Park in Richmond’s Union Hill neighborhood.
Volunteers worked in four shifts over the course of two days to beautify the park, and by the end of the project planted two serviceberry trees, a Cherokee Princess dogwood, river birch, and two Royal Star magnolias. Pollinator gardens were installed in four beds, with native Black-eyed Susans, coneflowers, wild blue indigo, yarrow, hydrangeas, and milkweed planted, along with Blue-eyed grass.
Additional beds containing coreopsis and daylilies were also installed, as well as nearly three-hundred tulip and daffodil bulbs. In all, volunteers allocated over 225 hours planting and cleaning the park and adjacent sidewalks to enhance the overall streetscape along Jefferson Avenue and provide a more welcoming green space for neighbors and local wildlife.
