Reedy Creek Nature Center Planting

In autumn, 2022, volunteers, supported by a generous corporate donation, installed nearly 75 native plants at the entrance of the Reedy Creek Nature Center in the James River Park System.

The new garden, anchored by two persimmon trees, includes blue mist flower, coreopsis, button bush, goldenrod, snakeroot, aster, and butterfly weed, and will compliment the extension of the walkway connecting the nature center, which doubles as the park system headquarters, to the parking lot.

Besides enhancing the appearance of the park’s facilities, the new landscaping should flourish for years to come, and provide sustenance to generations of native pollinators. Additionally, all plants were sourced from local growers, keeping donation money in the Richmond community.
